Motorists planning to drive in the Republic of Ireland are being advised by the AA to check their car insurance policies.
It is often the case that motor vehicle insurance provides cover at a lower level outside the UK than in it, though many people do not think of Ireland as being outside the United Kingdom. Motorists will usually have third party cover say the AA, rather than fully comprehensive though insurers do differ in their protection so a call is advised prior to travel.
Also important when driving in a different country is the need for breakdown cover. Again some providers will provide it whilst some will not, it is down to the individual company. AA car insurance and breakdown cover does include these overseas options and can be bought at highly competitive prices, get a quote on Moneygossip and check out the best deals available.
A word to the wise comes from Direct Line with a reminder that any modifications made to a vehicle change the risk profile and therefore the insurance premium.
Lots of car owners are making changes to their vehicles now, personalising them with new wheels, sound systems and much more. Drivers are advised by Direct Line to get in touch with their car insurance provider to let them know about these modifications and enable them to recalculate the premium. If this is not done then the vehicle insurance could well be invalid should a claim be made.
A Direct Line spokesperson did say that modifications that improve the safety or security of a vehicle would not usually see premiums increased, though most mods are usually about enhancing the looks or performance of a vehicle and so would incur costs.
Elephant Insurance have been asking Mini drivers to compare their current insurance deals with what Elephant can offer.
The online insurer are making the suggestion because of the recent price reductions on the Mini, with new models enabling Elephant to re-band some of the popular cars, leading to potential savings of ten percent or more.
A couple of specific examples are the Mini One Sidewalk, which is now in group six compared with its previous group seven rating, and the Mini Cooper Sidewalk, now a group nine car rather than group ten.
The new Mini has been a highly successful seller since its launch, and these new classifications are sure to help it maintain its popularity, especially with younger drivers who appreciate the style of the Mini and can also appreciate the savings they can now make on their insurance premiums with Elephant.
