It has been suggested that swapping from a car to a motorbike will make sense financially, something that is on the minds of many people at the moment.
The PR man from AA Insurance commented that many people are switching to smaller vehicles already, driven by both financial and environmental motives. Taking the step to a motorcycle helps in both these areas even more than a smaller car. He noted that they are easy to park, economical to run and also cheaper to insure.
There are currently just over 1.2 million motorbikes registered in the UK, though perhaps that figure is going to rise based on what the man from AA Insurance has to say.

The improvements made to their critical illness insurance cover by Legal and General have been supported by Only Finance, who are pleased to see positive changes in this market.
Although BUPA still leads the way with its critical illness insurance offering Legal and General have clearly taken positive steps an Only Finance spokesperson said. It is also great news that they have not used the cover improvements as a device to increase the price, thus bringing a real benefit to the consumer.
The Only Finance spokesperson also discussed the fact that it is certainly more cost effective to buy both life and critical illness cover together, saving money and also having a more comprehensive level of protection than when only taking one of them. He went on to advise purchasers of critical illness protection to ensure any medical questions were answered fully and completely, as almost twenty-five percent of claims made were rejected due to illnesses not being declared at the time of policy purchase.
A study carried out by Zurich Insurance has found that the people of Britain are keen volunteers and are set to be even more so in the coming year.
The study showed how around 35 percent of British adults are actively involved in voluntary projects. Overall these people spend over 52 million hours each week providing their services as unpaid volunteers. The Zurich Insurance survey also showed that, in the next 12 months the number of volunteers will rise to over 50 percent.
A Zurich Insurance commentator was delighted to see such strength of support for worthy causes across the country but added that this situation should be managed correctly by the organisers. Key factors to consider are effective training for volunteers and ensuring adequate insurance cover is in place, both for the volunteer and public liability.
