DIY Popularity Falling Says Legal & General

According to a study by Legal and General the British passion for DIY is on the wane, with homeowners becoming more likely to employ someone to do the work now.
Legal and General found that over 40 percent of homeowners in the UK will now pay someone to do the work rather than attempt it themselves, racking up a total bill in the region of GBP700 billion each year. It is also the younger generation who are likely to bring the experts in, maybe because they do not have the skills to do the job or perhaps because they want to make the most of the time they have off work.
It is not a bad thing that we are getting experts in to do work now, since Legal and General also know that claims after DIY accidents can be pretty costly too. Bringing in someone who knows what they are doing can result in a better, safer and potentially less expensive end result.
